Kelly Marohl is the founder of The Greenspring Home, an interior design space that advocates minimalist decor for new parents and home-owners alike. A mother of two adorable toddlers, Kelly believes with the right amount of planning, anyone can create a beautiful home.
Her minimalist approach is based on a love of open, clean looking spaces that are still practical for parents. Minimalist decor doesn’t have to be about bare walls and cold looking bedroom furniture - instead, it’s about trying to be intentional and conscientious about your space.
Minimalist decor advocates a way of living that is focused on finding joy in the simple things. Our busy routines tend to keep us focused on the future - the next chore to do, the next thing on your to-do list to tick off - but minimalism encourages us to be fully present in the moment.

We sat down with Kelly to discuss her take on minimalist decor that is approachable enough for the novice decorator.
What three words would you use to describe your interior design style?
Neutral, organic, and minimalist.
What do you like about the minimalist style, and how can people achieve the look?
Minimalism is an effortless style that allows you to live freely. It features little decor, but it still delivers a bold statement, which is what I love about it.
Anyone can achieve this look by selecting one statement piece and accenting it with different shades of the same color palette, as well as multiple textile layers.
In the minimalist bedroom we decorated for the Puffy Showcase, we started with grasscloth wallpaper, which is what inspired the rest of the room.
You walk into your bedroom after a long day...what do you look forward to the most?
There’s nothing better than turning on my lamps, cuddling under my linen quilt, and catching up on my favorite shows.
What inspires you when you redecorate?
Typically, I’ll come across one new thing, fall in love, and the next thing you know - I’m re-designing everything.
When it comes to bedroom design, what would say are the 3 biggest challenges?
First off, the size of the room. If the room is too small, figuring out the placement of furniture becomes tricky. If the room is above average in size, adequately filling space is key.
Next are the size and placement of windows. Sometimes, a window can throw off which walls are usable for furniture placement. Also, I often see homeowners puzzled by picking out the correct window treatments when windows are above average in width.
Finally, there’s the art of decorating nightstands. Similar to decorating a console table or shelves on a bookcase, every piece needs to work together in perfect harmony.
Has your design style changed over the years? If so, what motivated you to change?
It’s definitely changed over the years. Once I discovered the brand Serena & Lily, my style has gradually changed towards loving that neutral, light, and airy feel.
What are five bedroom decor essentials that can transform the look of any bedroom?
I would say the top five are:
- A Feature Wall
- Matching Lamps
- A Bench For The End Of Your Bed
- Cozy, Layered Bedding
- An Elegant Light Fixture
How important is a quality mattress?
A quality mattress is THE most important element to creating the perfect bed. Without one, you won’t get a good night’s sleep - defeating the purpose of the room!
Describe the style and comfort of the Puffy Lux Mattress
The outside of the Puffy Lux Mattress is so stylish and soft that you could sleep directly on it. The first time I laid on the Puffy Lux Mattress, I immediately thought it was like sleeping on clouds. Now having slept on it for multiple nights, I am waking up with my whole body feeling refreshed.
Sleep habits are changing and people are more focused on creating tranquility at home. What do you think will be the biggest bedroom decor trend in 2023 and beyond?
I think people are catching onto the importance of a great night’s sleep, so in 2023 consumers will spend a lot more on high-quality bedding fabrics that will last for years.
